First, I assume that you verified that the CPU still works, right? And NO, I don't think you want to de-solder 297(?) pins on TWO boards, and then re-do the job a third time around. Even if it actually WORKED in the end, banging your head against the wall for a half-day might be a more productive use of the time

If the heatsink is not too heavy and you don't consider it especially valuable, just re-apply it with superglue. Put hs compound on the middle of the K6-2's heat spreader and apply a superglue around the rim (you know how it makes that funny little dip and then comes up again at the extreme edge, all the way around...)

Just make sure the glue is fully set before you set the box back upright
