Hmm... I still kinda want to get a power supply replacement first. Because if it really is a power supply problem, the more fiddling I do with the machine using a bad PS, the more likely the PS is to ruin other components... no?

PS's aren't too expensive anyways... it's my dad's money anyway. At this point, he's basically like "well if a new power supply isn't the problem I'm just going to take it to CompUSA and let their tech's try to fix it"
