new boards are all ata 100 so raid is kind of a mute point.
even if you get them the ECS K7S5A? which is cheap and does DDR or SDRAM has nic and sound on board and both are able to be disabled, along with an XP1700 your looking at around $175 without memory which is a cheap solution and the 2 setups like that that I have run the 143MHz bus with stock volts

want to spend more $$?
well that opens the options incredibly.
by the way, the ECS has a bios ready for upto the XP2200 now
