it's the disposable razor concept applied to PCs. Works fine for a very specific purpose (internet, email, basic office software), but the quality is low, and when something major goes bad, you chuck it and buy a new one.

Not bad if you know a computer-illiterate who just needs basic PC functionality, and you aren't there to help him/her out, but otherwise...why shuck out money on something like that when the same money in the self-assemble market gets you so much farther?
