It's like pulling teeth, but I thought I'd let you all know he's able to run Roller Coaster Tycoon with all it's expansion packs with no problems. It's just the SIMS, LL and HP he's crashing in after about 30 min of play. Retail Disks.....
Could be a sound card driver issue, since I had a similar problem in WIN98 with the game. That was the Aureal Vortex Problem I won it lost.
Could also be he needs to have the service Paks for WIN2K installed. Did see a post on NTCompatible that it runs ok with SP 1 in there, but down below that another fella having a similar problem under 2K.

Course this kid doesn't know diddly about what's in there and what's not or which HP he has. Aggggh!

We can rule out it being a skin or an object that's the problem since these are all Maxis Default objects and skins. No DL's...so not a bad texture or duplicate ID's.

He is running MacAffee AV...this could be the culprit since The Sims does not like AV running and causes a Hard Lock. Oh Geeze now to try and tell him how to turn that off.........

The other possibility is his CD-ROM can't read Safe Disk2 right and when he installs HP, it's not copying everything right. Does Roller Coaster Tycoon have Safe Disk 2 on any expansion paks????
The original doesn't.Wonder when he's cleaned his CD-ROM last?

He says he has no problem with these, they play fine:
Some of the other games I
currently have are "Stronghold" and "Roller Coaster
Tycoon" and its Expansion Packs.

Off to see how video intensive these games are........wonder how much ram he has?

Any other ideas? Would the service paks fix issues that would cause this?
