Just thought you folks running GXP75s might like to know about the firmware update available from IBM.

They have a version of their DFT (drive fitness test) which detects IBM drives needing firmware update (from diskette). It is painless and non destructive and is supposed to help stability.

I have just run it and have booted up on the drive with previous software which is fine. The previous DFT erase disk procedure certainly fixed the worst of it, but that wiped the disk.

They tell me that if the drive fails now I get my RMA, but I am kind of attached to it now I have fixed it
