1. The spec for AGP, as written by Intel, doesn't recommend any setting above 64. Of course, this doc is getting fairly dated. However, vid cards are sporting more onboard mem than they did back then, so the AGP aperture is getting less and less important.
2. My Intel motherboard doesn't SUPPORT any setting above 64. Again, the "getting dated" thing (I mean, it is almost 2 years old now!).
3. I'm using XP, and have absolutely no problems with AGP set at 64 and my GF2.
4. The problems anyone is experiencing with a Radeon under XP are more likely due to poor drivers, for which ATI is famous, then a low AGP aperture setting (which 64 is NOT).
If your performance improved when upping the AGP aperture, can you say for sure that everything else in your BIOS/OS stayed the same, or did you change a few things at once? If you are using a 64mb card, I just can't see how setting the Aperture above 64 is really having ANY effect, let alone a positive one.
