1) I have gone back to the Win98se modem drivers (Windows Update included drivers for my modem - never had them before).
2) I have shut down the two devices that launch from autoexec.bat for my son's C++ stuff.
3) Shut down CallWave, IE6, Norton Internet Security, RAMPage.......er.....oooops. Just tried something.
Microsoft Messenger Service. That's the culprit. Shut it down, RC5 starts blazing. Start it back up, RC5 hits a slowdown.
Logging in/out from MS makes no difference.
(sigh) I like and use MS. Let the flames begin.
