Just installed the IBM 120 GXP and benched with sisoft Sandra 2000 against the IBM 75GXP (so recently restored after data meltdown due IMHO to OS failure)

Reference ATA66 27Gb - 13000
ATA100 IBM75GXP 15Gb - 22204
ATA100 IBM120GXP 82Gb- 24464

the 120 was master and the 75 was slave and also the boot drive on an ASUS CUSL2 i815e using Intel busmaster drivers.

Its not as much of a lead as I was expecting, but its about 10% faster according to this which cant be too bad.

Any ideas inspirations tweaks comments ?
