it's up to the OEM to decide. The argument was brought up that since a computer is a modular system, you could eventually replace/upgrade every piece of the original machine. The author of the article posed the question "If you are doing it one piece at a time, at what point is the machine no longer considered the 'original equipment'" and none of the vendors he contacted had a solid answer. Some of them went so far as to say the OS license was tied to the mouse, since it was delivered packaged with the MS mouse.

All of the Falcon systems we bought here at work came with the hologram sticker not even applied, in a package with the manual and the mouse. So it would seem that no one really gives a shit.
