I am getting sick of companies suing Micrsoft. If these companies spent less time whining and banded together against Microsoft, there might be a viable alternative out there. Fact is, it's M$'s operating System if they don't want to put some crappy AOL Bloatware in their already bloated OS more power to them. If they don't wanna create this shortcut or that shortcut on the desktop fine with me. It sure would save me an extra step of deleting them once I've loaded. Granted somethings may have to be looked into, like if M$ adds code to keep the competitor's stuff from working properly, and not letting users remove MediaPlayer and MSN Messenger without jumping through hoops.
As for Be, they shot themselves in the foot, by focusing more on their BeIA than their OS. Do you really need an Icon on the desktop, can't they have their manufacturers create a dual boot setup like I have (BeOS boot menu asks if you wanna boot BeOS or the other guys OS). Basically, these companies are asking for free advertising.
And as far as Apple or Mac or whatever they're calling it these days, you don't make your OS work with Intel Systems you have a limited market end of story. People shouldn't have to buy everything from them. Their little business sounds like more of monopoly than M$. Although, if these companies keep this crap up Microsoft will be owning all of them very soon. They should have learned a lesson from Rambus.
Okay, now you can call me Bill Gates.
