ATA133 -- Hard drives haven't seen any strong performance jumps since ATA/66 or thereabouts. Even today's fastest drive cannot sustain more than about 30MB/sec or therabouts, and beyond ATA/66 the gains diminish rapidly. ATA/133 technology furthermore is not universally supported in the market, whereas ATA/100 is.

USB 2.0 -- Much of USB 2.0 resulted as both a recognition of USB 1.1's ultimate limitations, AND as a reaction to Firewire (IEEE 1394). Political infighting amongst the technology vendors has delayed its arrival, and furthermore, there aren't very many devices that need it, yet.
