Try install from the CD or FDisk & format HD from a floppy if possible with XP or try an earlier OS first to get started. If the HD will not FDisk or format then the HD maybe bad as a bad controller on the MoBo could be bad. The HD might be fixable from a program like in Norton Utilities, with Win XP there are 2 ways the HD maybe setup & I am not sure what software programs will work to recover your boot sectors.
