one other thing to look at is if you have Netgear network cards. It seems that they shipped a few FA311 cards with the wrong chipset I had major problems with my 2 computers communicating I was always loosing the network connection and one day I decided to look for some new drives for my cards and low and behold their website has a fix posted for people with these cards. There must be quite a few cards out there with this problem as I purchased both my cards months apart from diffent stores and they both had the problem. now they work great and my network has not hiccupped once.
P.S. I use a crossover cable not a hub.
