I think/hope the money factor is now beginning to weigh against MicroSoftncuddly.

But its possible that MS are swimming in treacle here in that their pricing strategy is accelerating long term market opposition for them. The current generation of MS OS's are so expensive it makes IBM's and other Linux systems worth developing.

If MS saturated the market by using less inflated retail prices noone would find it worthwhile to develope a competitor OS however MS would be put under a lot of pressure to share secrets, maybe even placed under legal control of governmental bodies. I wonder if they are doing this on purpose to create an opportunity for others to make a competitor OS so that they can continue to operate as a lucrative private company.
