Because the Audigy can have as much as 4 times the Power as the Live...if you are comparing even up between the 2 then the CPU usage is less but not the 4 times as much because of it's different approach with EAX, 24 bit, playback and recording....so in comparison to the Live 5.1 it has an edge ...still yet it would need a high power system as most PCI sound cards do. The lowest 1 that I know of is the Hercules Fortissimo II card...All you have to do is disable the EAX for improvement.
