I had a 20.5 gig 7200 RPM WD as my main HDD for nearly 2 years. Very solid drive. At one time I "upgraded" to a 30 gig Maxtor, but after about a month I gave it the thumbs down (just after the return policy expired .) Didn't perf nearly as well, and one game I was playing a lot at the time kept crapping out on it. I mirrored the drive to the WD, and it ran perfect. Can't get better proof than that. One thing I'll give the Maxtor though is that it was whisper quiet, but given how loud the rest of my system is (10 fans in this one) I don't think that mattered.
