I believe that you didn't enter the smtp server you've sent your mails to before. say your outlook (or whatever) was configured to use smtp.myISP.com - then you have to tell your smtp server to use smtp.myISP.com as mailserver.

another thing could be that you have a firewall installed which just block the outbound connection from your smtp to the isp's smtp...


receiving
you will have to configure your smtp to accept your email adress. and disallow any forwarding to/from other servers than your workbox and the isp's smtp (or your server might soon be used as relay to send millions of spam mails)...


that's about what I can think of right now... Just read the faq to your mailer, smtp server.
or try
man exim (or however the smtp server binary is called)
on the shell to get some info...
