The monitor consumes about 3/4 of the total system consumption. So when the monitor is off, the PC is only consuming about as much as a 100W light bulb. This can be further reduced with power saving features enabled (but who wants to use those!). Studies have shown that with the monitor off, and the PC on 24/7, it should run you around $10-20 a month on average (depends on the PC and your power rates).
