My machine just will not allow certain devices on certain USB hubs. Of my 7 USB devices, at least 4 of which are in use at all times, there are about 3 different combinations that will work (as far as which USB port I plug them into). My system has 5 on board (actually seven, but there was no adapter to connect the remaining 2) and I am also using a 7 port external hub. If I put my digital camera and web cam on the same hub, they crash the machine. If I put them on separate hubs, everything is fine. The other devices don't seem to matter, so it would appear to be related to bandwidth hungry devices like cameras.
