I'd hate to see your house not grounded correctly and everything coming back to your computer.
Better to ground the main box and feed a ground from that to the receptacle. If it's under the sink you might want to bond the water pipes there too (please shut the power down). Judging by the age of your home you probably have solid metal water lines, but bonding doesn't hurt. If you have a potential spike running through the water pipes and they aren't grounded very well, showers could be exciting. The key is to make a better path (less resistance) to ground than yourself.
Home Depot sells the grounds rods. Your only problem is driving 8' of rod through hard pan.
