I'm currently running 2 256 MB sticks of Crucial XMS2400 at 150 MHz bus on an AK31 rev 3.1 with aggressive timings (have to set Command Rate to 2t, though). I have 2 sticks of Mushkin high-quality PC2100, but I haven't taken the time to test them thoroughly.

I think a 512 MB DIMM would present too much of a load to overclock well. Most DIMMs are made with 128 megabit chips, so a 512 megaBYTE DIMM has to have 32 chips - quite a few. I think you're better off with 2 256 MB DIMMs.
