I really should run a line out directly from the receiver to the computer. This would reduce the risk of a phase shift from the split setup I'm currently using.

I played with the graphic equalizer settings in Nero's wave editor. This seemed to open up the sound quite a bit. It appears that line-level is really flat, and lifeless.

This makes me think that good digital sampling requires a sound engineer's ears. It's not as simple as just opening up soundrecorder and "capturing" a good .wav.

I really like a shareware program called cdwav.exe. This is a great little recording and splitting utility that let's me capture a big 600 meg .wav file, and then split it up into small tracks for cdda.

I could spend the money on Soundforge, but I'm pretty sure that I don't have the hardware to justify the expense.

I am going to look into the phase though.

Thanks,

Brian
