Well, the mobo turned out to be sold out that day, so I took an MSI K7T266 Pro2 instead 
Win98se works fine, it recognized everything perfectly and stuffed the drivers right back in so I didn't have to install anything at all...
You wouldn't believe how happy I was... I thought "Man, I'm never going to get this PC back together again..." I had to buy a new tower and everything so it turned out to be a little more expensive than planned (lol). WinXP = hardware accelerated? Good news... than it's the next item on my shopping list
