You would be nuts to go with a P4/PC133 solution. Worst performance your money could buy. And RDRAM is a dead end now, so an i850 board is probably not a good option, either.

That would leave you with two possible chipset options, both targeted for DDR-SDRAM: A board based on VIA's P4X266, or a board based on Intel's i845-D.

However, last May when you posted that original query, one of the responders reported that the CNC software apparently will not work on a Coppermine-core Pentium III, either. Have you already tested this package on a P4? Be a shame to buy an expensive (IMO, overpriced) platform only to find out the money was wasted.

Oh, and the next-gen P4 (Northwood) is scheduled to come out in the first quarter of next year, if memory serves.
