I beg to differ, at this moment I'm working between three machines -- an Athlon XP, a Tbird 700, and P233 MMX -- even in light windows stuff, the XP (1.33) is a hair crisper than the Tbird (700) and both are noticeably quicker than the P233.

I likewise noticed an improvement in general smoothness between my K75 (650) and my Tbird (700), even at the same clock, on account of the L2 cache difference. No doubt some of this is acclamation from having used a variety of systems.

But this I do know, I can definitely see 'slow' whenever I use my old Pentiums

Disk performance, L2 cache, bus I/O...all of these come into play.
