I guess Cox Communcations is shelling out the money. Although, what really scares me is Cox's backup plan is NetZero (can you believe this crap). NetZero doesn't even have an access number in my area (I wouldn't use 'em anyway).
I do believe all this is caused by the cable companies. They needed someone to help them compete with the TelCo DSL, and now that the service is up they see they no longer need @Home. So, when @Home asks to be bought out, the wonderful cable companies see an opportunity to screw someone other than their customers, so they offer a measily amount for the buy out. I sure wish DSL was available here, but unfortunately Verizon is taking their sweet ass time.
