XP not recognizing new Lite-on cd writer correctly

I think XP isn't correctly recognizing my new lite-on 24x10x40x cd writer. I had a Plextor 12x hooked up which XP recognized as a cdrw drive but it show the lite-on as a cd-rom under the hardware properties. I deleted the plextor under hardware properties before I shut donw xp and installed the new drive. EZ cd creator recognizes the new drive but cdrwin says there are no cd writers on the ide bus. I've loaded the aspi drivers and the plextor worked fine with cdrwin. Anybody know of anything to try. I really prefer cdrwin and would like to get it working.
