The 500 was pretty much the fastest Katmai that was at all common in the market, although a few 550 and 600MHz Katmai parts went out and about and there was a 533B Katmia part IIRC.

The majority of 500, 550MHz, and 600MHz PIII parts were 'E' (Coppermine) and all 650MHz+ parts were Coppermine (although Intel soon dropped the 'E' because once all PIII parts were Coppermines, it just became confusing to keep using it).
