use Premiere? Even with SSE2 optimizations (if that is the case) it takes about 10 x the time for rendering than what Ulead does.

I guess the argument can be made that Premiere runs faster with the P4 but then, take a duron and Ulead and you are still faster. Or even a Celeron.

This is what I don't understand. There are programs out there that are far from reality and most people I know that are into these applications tell me that they suck. I have worked with both of them and don't want to go back to Premiere.

Again, that is marketing, Adobe is so well established that it is hard to break into the phalanx there.

In terms of resell value, the funniest thing I found is that you can pick up P4s on EBay for some $25 including HSF. Now where do those come from? It is funny but if I were to built a completely new system, I might go with a P4 box from Dell or any of those, throw away the mainboard and CPU and put in whatever I need. It might still be cheaper than buying everyting separately. It is not just the enthusiasts who have done this, quite a few white-box builders have done the same with the result that P4 sales were up however, they ended up as paper weights..
