Yeah, I've gotta go with Hugh on this one -FF7 was poorly ported to PC. What the hell, only 3 view settings and the highest resolution being 640x480 one of which, being 1/4 screen? I played this thing on my comp and, hah, I guess it emulated the shitty quality of my analog television. They hardly prettied the game up any. But don't get me wrong, I thought it was a kickass game and I found it hella fun. It's just annoying because I know my PC could have handled a lot more. At the time it was released (around '98 '97?) I guess 3D videocards were just for g4m3r5. I remember FF7 being released a little while after I bought my voodoo2. FF8 was a little better because the developers used a lot of DirectX 6.0 for the animation sequences, but stil there was no choice over resolution and such, it was still 640x480 for full screen.

As for the whole PC v Console debate, I love my PC. It's evolution vs revolution. Revolution meaning that in X years, your console will be updated with next generation technology and your old system will be slowly phased out. Evolution is cooler and it requires a lot more intelligence. It's a pain, yes, but so much more powerful. That's why so many consoles are trying to be the PC now, from consoles surfing the net, having keyboards, to massive multi-player online rpgs. True, consoles totally OWN when it comes to developers and such, but PC games are truly what one can call "innovative" -ex. Black & White, The Sims, Star Craft was cool, Max Payne (good lord, this game was badass), etc. And the gaming community for the PC is so much more cooler. I've yet to see a gamecube owner mod out their case, or a playstation user to totally void warranty.

Thoughts?
