see what HDTach gives you. Burst rate should be near the peak of the current ATA mode, and sustained will probably be closer to 10-15MB/sec for that drive IIRC.

Therein lies the rub -- unless you have this thing in a RAID setup, the maximum burst rate is not exploited enough to really make a performance difference. If it were a 7200RPM drive or were operating in a RAID config, then it might be worth your time to pursue.
