Finally got it cranked up!
Got one of my 2 new 40GB Seagate IV's to work. The latest firmware for my player (its flashable) allows this via a workaround by pluging the HD into the Flash Card Reader slave IDE connection on the IDE cable...pretty neat eh!
Thanks to all who helped me partition this bastard so it didnt stuff up all my drive letters...
It allows all MPEG1/2, jpg and mp3 playback to 139 files per directory. Cant have DVD format menues etc - but hey - what the hell.
So that's 30VCD full length feature movies or 9000 mp3's or a whopping 600,000 jpegs.....!!!! Now thats out there!!!
Anyway - my question - I tried for a week to get an old 800MB Caviar2850 Hard Disk to do the same without success. My Win98SE System info tells me;
WDC AC28 50F
Firmware Revision 27.2
Why wouldnt that fire up in the DVD player and yet the new SeagateIV would? Win98Se recognises it just like another HD, why not the DVD player firmware?... Do your reckon I could do a HD firmware flash and have better luck?
