I flashed bios after bios and got the same damned error "unable to write to eeprom".

Finally I found and downloaded AGP bios 1.16 and just flashed it. Hurray it works!

Thankfully my frugal wife pulled the V5 out of the office's trash can this morning. She knew that I had thrown it out in disgust. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed.

The least I should do is put it into her computer now.
