You are right. Arctic Silver should only be used
as the thermal conductive material because it is
99.8% micronized( powdered) silver. The relative
thermal conductivity of silver is 1.93, copper is
1.81, aluminum is 1.00 and iron is .31. So the speed in which the heat moves from the CPU to the surface of the heatsink and removed by the fan is almost twice as fast.Forget copper because it is harder to work with. Aluminum is much easier to drill. One drawback is Arctic silver II is not cheap.
