or at least some of them (OSR2 for sure), as I have done it myself. Only trouble is, a disk with ONLY an extended partition normally is non-bootable, meaning you wouldn't be able to use it once it was back in the original computer.

A way around that: Create a primary and a secondary, delete the primary (the space will still be there!), do whatever to the secondary; and then re-create the primary when done and...voila.

This of course is not always practical with a really small disk just because sometimes you need more space to work with than the amount you can possibly allow to go over to a secondary partition.
