Intel designed a processor that performs fewer tasks per clock in order to get a higher clock speed; AMD designed a brute-force processor that gets a lot more done but consequently rings up much shorter numbers on the speedometer.

So should AMD blame Intel for the PR rating if Intel created a processor that goes faster than AMDs (marketing) while getting less done (technical/engineering)?

Somebody over in the Ace's Hardware forum got it right, essentially they said that Intel is a marketing-driven company that tells its engineers what to do, AMD is an engineering-driven company with very little talent for marketing. The PR is a step in the right direction IF they can execute it successfully, personally I have nightmares of Cyrix whenever anyone says "PR"...
