If you are thinking of upgrading your system with this mobo (if you will be using the same HDD and don't want to do a clean install) ther are a few things you should consider.

The problem that I was having was that I could not get my IBM HDD's to show up under windows divice manager (I was mistakenly associating it with a controller issue), even though they are detected correctly on boot by the bios.

Despite trying to export a myriad of different registries that have an IBM HDD, in hopes of using one that has the HDD's already detected a working solution could not be found and a fresh install was in order. As noted in an earlier post I treid deleting and reinstalling things in every configuration I could think of, as well as registry entries.

Note: If you are not going to be using the onboard sound or Lan, the disk that comes with the mobo is not necessary. Also note that if you are using the onboard sound under windows 98 use the 95 driver. I could not get the 98 one to work.

If anyone has any comments on how a fresh install might have been avoided I would like to listen to comments.

Questions: Is there a way to set up the computer for installation of the a new mobo? Like deleting other mobo drivers in safe mode and rebooting when the new mobo is installed. If so what drivers should I look for to uninstall?

What might I have tried to get the HDD's recognised correctly in the divice manager?
