Hi, I have this Rioworks PDVIA with 2 1 gig
processors running Win98 {I know the second processor isn't being used, I am getting win2000}
Now I have a ViperV770 and a Creative Live! 5.1 + MP3 - now this system is having all sorts of problems - some come and go, depending on what pci slot I stick the Creative in. But generally crackling noise, confusion of video drivers when I play Quake3 and sound loops or all out just freezing up when I play Quake3. Now I got hold of George Breeze's pci bus latency patch and the latest 4-in-1 patch. And I am resigned to rebuilding the system, as it is smoked. Does anyone have any advice about the order in which I should rebuild the system? Should I put the latency patch in first, or the the 4-in-1? Should I even put the Via drivers that came on a CD with the motherboard, or will the 4-in-1 drivers take care of that? Should I leave the VXD VCACHE virtual cache settings alone this time, as I was getting those blue screens, I have 512 meg ram. Any advice would be great thanks!
