48 centigrades is on the hot side for the CPU, Most of my boxes are sitting around 35- 40 centigrades in the BIOS. What kind of heatsink /fan are you using and is the fan working properly? Another thing to check is whether the fan is plugged into the right connector, some mainboards will beep and lock if the fan is not hooked up to the CPU-fan connector.
Also, make sure that the HSF is properly seated and that there is no compound leaked out that shorts the surface resistors / caps.
