A checksum could be a memory or can be what a BIOS does to itself to make sure it is not broken in the old days this happened more often then nowadays & a bios chip was unplugable to replace or reprogram.
Is there a memory count at all then a checksum error ?
If a checksum error is the first thing that happens then I would guess the BIOS is bad.
Try with no HD & booting from a floppy if you can do this then you can flash the BIOS.
If this fails then get a different MoBo.

Did you change reset the system to boot stable (not optimized) ?.
Did you set RAM to most stable ?.
