If your win 98 whatever boot disk DOS can see all the partitions you are
good to go to run SR on all partitions. First off the smart thing to do
is have the whole drive checked as you have one bad location but you may
have other hidden bad sectors. When you run SR it saves your data, tests
the cluster for bad sectors (this srubs cleans up the area) & puts your
data back if the sector is good with the strongest magnetic writes
possible this refesh is what your HD really needs. This is even better
then a format this is why you use SR on good HD's as it keeps it fresh &
healthy.
If your data is bad SR recovers as much as possible with many different
methods better then
any program that I know of. The point is you can copy your good data
somewhere else like another
partition but the SR will save the data even better then a copy program,
the backup is in case the HD decides to bite the dust some more or
totally which is possible with a drive that is acting up already.

1 backup HD's to another media HD, tape CD's, ect
2 check all sectors of a HD even if HD is good
3 use SR program before anymore problems pop up
