I've got 2 machines 1 is a Athlon 1.2Ghz the other is a P4 1.7Ghz.. the specs of the 2 machines are similar ie. 256 ram etc.. the P4 machine is very nearly twice as quick as the athlon for rendering and encoding of video and transitions etc..
