With full versions of windows you get a disk & while installing windows you are asked to make a start up disk. If you do not have these disks then on a win 98 computer you can make a startup disk by clicking start, settings, control panel, Add/
Remove Programs, Startup Disk, Create Disk.

This floppy disk will boot you into DOS, if you need DOS on a windows computer holding the F8 key down after POST will give you a menu (w2k has no DOS) & you can pick DOS there.

This will destroy all partitions on your HD & you will lose all your data, if you use a DOS 6.22 floppy here you will have 2 DOS's to pick from later. When you boot from the floppy you do a

Fdisk (remove all junk partitions, set HD to size)
Format C: /s (sets HD up to be seen by OS)

Boot from floppy again & pick CD Rom support this time & pick the CD Rom drive like D: or G: & put in the win 98 CD in & remove the floppy here as
win 98 install will bomb badly with the ramdrive &
type setup this will install win 98 for you.
