I am trying to tame the beast and I need some magik oh wondrous socereres!

anyone know good utility progs for reducing CPU % usage without blue screening or under performing ?

I am finding I have to restart my comp at the drop of a hat because Kernel CPU usage typically climbs to 75% within minutes of boot when I have shut down all extraneous progs and cleared add processes etc and have nothing but a desktop in front of me.

Preferably free and given with a good heart
