This isn't news to me. What bothers me is the BeOS had serious potential and from now on the OS will probably have zero growth.

It's interesting to note that when Apple was about to close their specs to their PowerPC machines to Be, their "stupid management" figured this out (Apple didn't tell them what they were going to do this) and made a smart decision to port Be to the x86 platform, thus keeping the OS alive.

My guess is that some BeOS/BeIA hybrid will be the foundation for an upcoming Palm handheld to compete with Windows CE machines. Considering that Compaq's ultra sweet Ipaq has been sold out for months, I wish them good luck.
