conversely, I installed WinMe "clean" on my Athlon box and have had no problems at all, except that Windows Media Player 7 is garbage. I haven't tried d/l-ing version 7.1 yet.

However, from the stories I have heard, my success definitely places me in the minority of WinMe users. Although, if you have decent hardware and get it working successfully, it IS nice and fast.
