I finally decided WTH tonight and uninstalled the Vortex 2048 Drivers. The Game was down to stall after stall after stall and I thought, hmmm, sound, video or mouse. Take your pick. So I cleaned this damn computer (whew what a bunch of dust bunnies) put in another 256 meg stick of Ram (512 in there now) rebooted, loaded the game...still stalling, so I quit, came out unistalled the sound drivers, rebooted, loaded into winders and put in the 2016 Drivers Sledge sent me. Opened the game and so far no stammers, no locks no hesitations.......So it must have been something with the 2048 Drivers that wasn't kosher. I have SB Emulation disabled in Device manager and the line in the Autotexec.bat REM'd.....Had done that before with the 2048's and it didn't do squat. If this holds up, I'll call it a wrap. Now if the damn thing will just boot into winders ok without a lock.....did when I had the drivers removed...but I haven't rebooted it yet since I put the 2016's in. |
