try replacing th CDrom Drive if you have a handy spare, and/or both IDE Cables. I seem to remember having this problem a while back and swapping out one of the IDE Cables fixed it. The CDrom Drive and Hard Drive are on different chains I presume (HD Pri.Master and CD Sec. Master). If not try that as well.
