I've just recently reformatted the hard drive and resintalled windows 98 on a machine. Actually, I did it three time, and every time, at some point or other, windows reports registry errors during bootup. The machine is compiled from parts that were taken out of our other computers after upgrading, and windows installed fine a while back. All that's changed now is a new monitor, new cd rom drive, a zip drive, and a newer video card that came from a diff computer that I recently upgraded. I mean it seems all in all a software problem.... but that doesn't make sense because it happened 3 times, tried two diff. win98 install discs. Is it possible that there's a hardware problem? Maybe the cd-rom drive isn't copying something right? Maybe the video card isn't any good any more, though I don't know how any hardware problems would cause registry errors like that. Any ideas?
